Fishing Island Beach State Park

A pristine undeveloped barrier island with miles of surf fishing access and some of the best beach striper fishing in New Jersey. Stripers work the gutters and sandbars along the beachfront in spring and fall and bluefish hit poppers in the wash all summer. The south end near Barnegat Inlet is the most productive zone and fish concentrate in the rip that runs along the beach here on the outgoing tide. A buggy permit is required for oceanside beach access and the park fills fast on good weather weekends in peak season.
